Just about everyone has said or at least heard the phrase, “Merry Christmas”. It is a warm greeting we give around the Christmas season. Have you ever stopped and wondered why Christmas is merry? Is it because of the traditions or gifts or even the lights? Perhaps for some people this is the case. For Christians, Christmas is the celebration of a gift. That gift is Jesus Christ leaving heaven and taking on flesh for the sake of his people. There is no greater gift. Christmas is merry because we have received this gift! This gift of hope for the world!
